Grounded in science, MBSR is the most widely researched mind-body program in the world. Participants in this eight-session Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course will gain a first hand introduction to mindfulness practices involving breathing and gentle body movements and methods for incorporating mindfulness practices into their everyday life and work. This program, which originated at the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, has been on the cutting edge of mind/body integration medicine for 30 years. This unique technique helps participants develop an awareness of their bodies and their emotions and facilitates their ability to thoughtfully respond instead of react to situations. The course is led by Peter Shalit, a graduate of Syracuse University with a BA in Psychology, and runs Saturday from February 24 to April 21 from 9:30am-12pm in ASB 420. It includes an all-day retreat on Sunday, April 15 from 9am-4pm.
