The program is 34 credits total.
The MCID program can be completed either full time or part time. The average MCID student completes the program in two years. All courses must be completed within 5 years.
Students can join the MCID program in the Fall, Spring, or Summer terms.
The majority of MCID courses are offered in a hybrid format. Some fully online courses may be available *subject to change
Hybrid classes typically meet in person, or online in a synchronous format, every other week during the fall and spring semesters. Asynchronous/online sessions are offered during those weeks in between the in person (synchronous) sessions. Frequently, classes are held in school facilities in central and northern New Jersey. In rare cases classes are offered on campus. During the summer sessions, classes are typically offered online.
A baccalaureate degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0
Although greater than 90% of our students are certified teachers, certification is not required to enter the program and complete the degree. The MCID degree is not a teaching certification.
Yes, many students continue to work full time while pursuing their MCID degree.
Yes, we have several cohorts ranging from 8 – 20 teachers in districts across NJ, if you and your colleagues are interested in collaborating with us to start a cohort in your district, please contact Program Director, Tim Casperson at Caspers@ramapo.edu
Yes, RCNJ policy allows fully matriculated MCID students to transfer up to eight (8) graduate credits (replacing two MCID courses, as appropriate) from an accredited institution.
Tuition is approximately $852 per credit.
Estimated total cost for the MCID program = $28,962
*There is no additional cost for out-of-state students

Yes, Graduate students may borrow up to $20,500 annually under the Federal Direct Stafford
Loan programs.
To qualify for a Federal Direct Stafford loan, graduate students must be enrolled for at least 6 credit hours per semester. Students enrolled for less than 6 credits may consider an alternative loan.
