Streaming Video
The library subscribes to and has purchased streaming videos across multiple platforms. Students, staff, and faculty may view Ramapo College’s collections by using the single sign on service (same username and password as your Ramapo e-mail).
How to Find Videos
Over three hundred streaming video titles can be found via the library catalog. Follow this link to start searching: https://opac.ramapo.edu/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl
The online catalog Advanced Search page allows users to limit by item type. In order to search for only streaming videos, click the check box next to “Streaming video” (see highlighted section of the above image) and either hit the Search button to browse all streaming video titles that are in the catalog or add additional information to limit the search further (title, date range, etc.) before hitting the Search button.
Academic Video Online
Not all videos that the library has access to are cataloged. The library subscribes to the Academic Video Online (AVON) Collection, which hosts over 70,000 streaming videos across multiple subjects and disciplines. To search AVON, find the database via the Database Finder tab or Databases A-Z on the library homepage, or go to this link: https://library2.ramapo.edu/?route=Index/about&dbid=195. To see the collection of films formerly hosted by Illumira/NJVid (also available via the online catalog), please go to this link: https://video.alexanderstreet.com/channel/ramapo-college
As with most databases, if you are off-site, you will need to log in using your Ramapo College credentials (the same username and password used for Ramapo e-mail). If you have any questions or trouble accessing titles, please contact the library through our Ask A Librarian service.
Requesting Streaming Videos for Purchase
Instructors interested in requesting that the library purchase a new streaming video for the collection should fill out the form: https://www.ramapo.edu/library/ordering-library-materials/
Please note, for the library to purchase a streaming video, an institutional license must be available. Not all streaming videos are available under that licensing option, including many Hulu, Netflix and Amazon exclusive titles. We are happy to look for alternative purchase options, but cannot guarantee an item will be available.
