The Center for Holocaust & Genocide Studies

History

Holocaust
Located on the Second Floor of Ramapo College’s George T. Potter Library (Room LC-215), the Center for Holocaust & Genocide Studies has been educating the northern New Jersey community about the Nazi Holocaust, the Armenian Genocide and other grievous violations of human rights since 1980.

The Center is a member of the Association of Holocaust Organizations and of the Consortium of Higher Education Centers for Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Studies. It is also part of the New Jersey State Commission on Holocaust Education network. The Center’s activities are funded through the support of private funders and Ramapo College. An advisory board provides valuable leadership and input related to the Center’s activities.

Library/Resource Center

The Center’s extensive collection of books, periodicals, films, visual aids, videos and other media provide students and teachers at all levels with the means to learn and teach about the Holocaust and other genocides.

The holdings of the Center, including films as well as books, are searchable on the Potter Library’s online catalogue and circulate on loan on the same basis as other library materials. They may be found and accessed in dedicated stacks outside of the Center (room LC-215).

Programs

The Center fulfills its mission for people of all ages through teacher workshops, public lectures and programs, college courses, student programs, film screenings, a video testimony project, and a growing, in-house exhibit.
