[BC-301] Salieu Suso, a Gambian musician/historian and kora (harp) player, and balafon (marimba) player Ebrahima Jassey will present two demonstration workshops on April 9 and April 10 in BC-301. All Ramapo students are welcome to attend. Times are: Tuesday, April 9, 6-7:30 p.m; Wednesday, April 10, 10-11 a.m.
Salieu Suso comes from a family of traditional musician-historians from Gambia, West Africa, that extends back nearly 1,000 years. He was taught to play the 21-stringed kora (West African Harp) at the age of 8, by his father, the renowned Alhaji Musa Makang Suso. He is recognized to be a descendant of Jali Mady Wulayn Suso, the kora’s originator. He settled in the U.S. in 1989.
