[D-215] Join the Future Teachers to hear Mrs. Basia Grabowski’s talk on how she transitioned from growing up in a Communist country to becoming a teacher in a diverse, urban district with cultures completely different from her own. Nearly 50 percent of all students in Paterson speak a primary language other than English, with a total of 37 languages spoken in district schools. How does someone thrown into this situation adapt and cope with the challenges in this type of district? How does one transfer their education and experience from a non-American background to be able to succeed as a teacher? All are welcome and pizza will be served. Contact: eogens@ramapo.edu
