The SIT Ripple Effect: An Advocate’s Journey fromLiberia to the World Bank

Join World Learning CEO Carol Jenkins and SIT GraduateInstitute alumna and current World Learning Board Member Aicha Cooper as theydiscuss Cooper’s path from living through the Liberian civil war to working ininternational development with the World Bank, where she draws on herexperience as a refugee to advocate for marginalized people worldwide. Cooperbelieves sharing her own story of resilience can help raise awareness of the globalrefugee crisis, particularly the impact of civil conflict on women andchildren. Cooper, who received a master’s degree in Sustainable Development,International Policy, and Management from SIT, will also discuss the impactstudying with SIT had on her career and why she returned to join theorganization’s Board of Trustees.
