Panopto

We are excited to announce that we will be transitioning from Yuja to Panoptoa new lecture capture and screen recording platform.

The Instructional Design Center continually assesses instructional technologies to address the evolving needs of students, faculty, and staff. After testing several options to replace Yuja, Panopto emerged as the top choice. Panopto provides instructors and students with a flexible set of tools to capture, edit and distribute video content for a wide range of educational purposes.

Starting January 1, 2025, Ramapo College will officially transition from YuJa to Panopto. All Yuja content created prior to November 15th will be migrated for you. Due to the timeline of the migration, all Winter instructors must transition to Panopto by December 23rd, either manually uploading videos or requesting assistance from the IDC via the Help Desk.

Panopto Workshop

If you were unable to attend the Panopto workshop on 12/03/2024, you can access the recording under 2024 Fall Workshops on the Recorded Trainings page.

You can view the Google Slide Deck from the workshop here: Getting to Know Panopto.

Panopto Access

The first time you use Panopto, we recommend that you access it through the Panopto Video link in your Canvas course. This is similar to how you accessed Yuja. Accessing Panopto in Canvas will automatically create your Panopto account—creating your personal ‘My Folder’ as well as a folder specifically for that Canvas course.

To create your Panopto account and sync it with your Canvas course, follow the steps below:

  1. Open your Canvas course and go to Settings → Navigation.
  2. Enable Panopto Videos, then click Save.
  3. Click Panopto Videos in the course menu.

If you are a Ramapo employee who does not use Canvas, or you prefer to navigate the platform outside Canvas to begin with, you can use the link below to log in via SSO.

When you record a Panopto video, you’ll be given two options to choose from:

  1. Panopto Capture (browser-based)
  2. Panopto for Windows or Mac (application-based)
