Gandhi, On Modernity

March 22, 2016 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

[A-218] The Masters Program in Sustainability Studies, Mindfulness at Ramapo College of New Jersey and The Roukema Center’s Semester In India Program invite you to participate in a Seminar Gandhi, On Modernity by Makarand Paranjape is Professor of English, at the Centre for English Studies, School of Language, Literature, and Culture Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He will speak about Gandhi’s text, Hind Swaraj, and its relevance to contemporary times. The basic argument is that Gandhi’s text is both a critique of modernity and an effort to recharacterize what modernity might mean to a more thoughtful conceptualization of proper action.
