Conversation in Spanish about Diaz’s life and work as a religious leader (babalao) of Santeria and professional musician in contemporary New York for the course “Nueva York Latino.” The conversation will contribute to the course’s goal to examine “Hispanic influence in the multiple sites–in media, popular culture, literature, politics, and the arts–where Latinidad, a discursive category, finds concrete expressions.”
