Hello from Rhode Island!
We are excited to announce that registration is open for the University of Rhode Island’s 2025 Innovative Education Conference (IEC), which will take place on Wednesday, March 26th. Our theme is, “Navigating Wicked Problems Through Higher Education”.
The conference is FREE and will be held virtually, making it easy to attend and participate in no matter where you are physically located.
  • Alongwith Dr. Thomas, this year we will host more than 30 sessions offered throughout the day and led by colleagues at URI, as well as several other colleges and universities from across the New England region, the U.S., and beyond, making this a unique and viable professional development opportunity for instructors of all types as well as for all members of our campus community.
  • This year’s conference tracks are:
    • Online and Blended Learning
    • Lessons Learned Using Generative A.I. in the Classroom
    • Inclusive and Accessible Teaching
    • Amplifying Evidence-Based Teaching Through Assessment and/or Scholarship of Teaching & Learning (SoTL)
    • Supporting Faculty Vitality & Well-Being

SoTL AND SNACKS TEACHING CIRCLE
First Wednesdays (Every(ish) 1st Wednesday of the Month Starting September 11th) (Wednesdays); 4:30 – 5:30 pm (Sep 11, Oct 2, Nov 6, Dec 4)

Ramapo’s reputation for teaching and mentoring is further supported by all of the great Scholarship of Teaching and Learning coming out of our convening groups!  If you’re an editor of a pedagogy journal, a scholar/author of educational practice or theory in your field, and/or if you’re just curious and looking to explore the world of SoTL (Scholarship of Teaching and Learning) come join us the first Wednesdays of the month (though we’ll start on the 2nd Wednesday of September) for some afternoon snacks and SoTL support!  We’ll be reading/working through Nancy L. Chick’s The SoTL Guide and, perhaps, organizing pot lucks! Please email Prof. Rikki Abzug to reserve your spot Rabzug@ramapo.edu.
