Lawrence Inserra, Jr.

Lawrence R. Inserra, Jr. is Chairman & CEO of Inserra Supermarkets, Inc., one of the largest family-owned and operated supermarket chains in the metropolitan area. Inserra Supermarkets was founded in 1954 by Larry’s grandfather, Patsy Inserra.  Although the original Lyndhurst store no longer exists, the new ShopRite of Lyndhurst is still referred to as “Patsy’s”.

Under the entrepreneurial leadership of the late Lawrence Inserra, Larry’s father, Inserra Supermarkets has expanded to include twenty-three ShopRite Supermarkets, two Price Rite Markets, and one Fresh Grocer Market across Bergen, Hudson, and Passaic Counties in New Jersey and Rockland County in New York. As a company that is “proud to be a family business serving families”, the Inserra family stores have truly become an integral part of the fabric of each of the communities where they are located.  Every succeeding generation of Inserras has built upon Patsy’s vision of providing the highest quality products at the most reasonable prices.

Larry Inserra Jr. was born in Newark and raised in Rutherford, NJ.  While attending high school, Larry worked in the family ShopRite business.  He attended Lehigh University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business and economics.  In addition to his family business accomplishments, Larry provides leadership to a number of communities and business organizations.  He serves as the Chairman of both the Hackensack Meridian Health Network Board & the Hackensack Meridian Health Carrier Clinic.
