There are many ways to participate in the 37th annual meetings of the Eastern Economic Association…
Papers are invited on all topics in economics.
Submitted before October 4: Current Members $35 each paper; Non-members $55 each paper
Submitted between October 5 and November 8: Current Members $55 each paper; Non-members $75
Submission is a TWO step process:
NOTES: Submission date will be determined from the submission time on conference maker, which operates in the Eastern Time Zone. Those submissions dated by the deadlines indicated above will be considered to have been submitted on time.
Submitted papers will be reviewed by a Program Committee in early December. Acceptance letters will be sent to authors and a schedule of sessions will appear on our website by mid-January. In order to be listed in the printed conference program, participants must register and pay the appropriate registration fee (see reverse) by January 17, 2011 (the fee is thereafter nonrefundable). Please note that there will be an additional $30 fee for a late registration.
Discussants play a vital role in the conference by offering colleagues comments and suggestions about their research. A discussant is asked to read a paper in advance and prepare 3 to 5 minutes of comments on it.
If you wish to serve as a discussant and do not plan to present a paper, please email the Executive Director at eea@ramapo.edu indicating the number of papers, the JEL code(s) and the area(s) in which you would be willing to discuss. Be sure to indicate if you will NOT be present for any of the days of the conference.
As a second step, please visit the registration website http://www.eeaorg.myshopify.com to register for the conference. You can also renew your membership at that time if necessary.
In order to be listed in the printed conference program, participants must register and pay the appropriate registration fee (see below) by January 17, 2011 (the fee is thereafter nonrefundable).
Session chairs help ensure that sessions will run smoothly. Chairs are asked to help make sure that the discussants in a session receive the papers in a timely fashion, and serve as timekeeper/moderator during the session. You may volunteer to serve as a chair for one or more sessions whether or not you are presenting or serving as a discussant. If you are willing to serve as a chair and are submitting a paper, please indicate this when submitting your paper online.
If you wish to serve as a chair and do not plan to present a paper, please email the Executive Director at eea@ramapo.edu indicating which JEL codes you would be willing to supervise.
A completely organized session is one that has been constructed in its entirety by a session organizer and submitted to the EEA as a complete package. It generally consists of three papers, discussants, and a session chair.
While there are no paper submission fees for papers in completely organized sessions, each participant is expected to pay the appropriate conference registration fee even if he/she is discussant, chair, or has been invited to participate.
To submit a complete session, email the executive director at eea@ramapo.edu. Please provide the following information: name of session chair and discussants, title of papers, author affiliations and contact information, and preferences for which day to hold the session during the conference. The deadline for submitting a proposed session is November 10, 2010.
You are welcome to just attend the conference… there are sure to be plenty of sessions of interest (they cover most areas of economics) and special conference highlights (you may wish to visit our website to look at last year’s program as an indicator of what is likely to be on this year’s program). Participants are asked to register and pay the appropriate registration fee (see below) by January 17, 2011 by visiting our registration website at http://www.eeaorg.myshopify.com.
A graduate or undergraduate student participating in the conference can become a student member for $35. Graduate students can then pay the member rates for submission and/or conference registration fees. Undergraduates can attend the conference and pay the undergraduate student registration fee. You may be asked for proof of status. There are special sessions for undergraduate students sponsored by Issues in Political Economy, a journal of undergraduate research in economics. Students in such sessions will have the opportunity to present their research, discuss that of other students, and will also have the possibility of publication in the journal. Please contact the IPE organizers at eea@elon.edu .
All participants in the annual conference are expected to pay the conference registration fee. This includes chairs and discussants, co-authors of papers being presented (if attending the conference), and participants in organized sessions. The conference registration fees are as follows: Members $75 per person, Non-members $135 per person. One can become a member (or renew a membership) at the same time as one registers for the conference (or submits a paper) and immediately avail oneself of the reduced member rate.
Please visit http://www.eeaorg.myshopify.com to register.
PLEASE NOTE: The fee for registration at the conference site will be $105 for members and $165 for non-members.
To make your hotel reservations, you may do so by contacting the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers located at 811 7th Avenue 53rd Street in New York at (212) 581-1000 or by visiting their website at http://www.starwoodhotels.com/sheraton/property/overview/.
Please be sure to make your hotel reservations by January 17, 2011. Make sure to mention the EEA in order to get the discounted rate.
Please be advised that we encourage you to stay at the conference hotel for two reasons: first, it is more convenient for you, and second, the EEA is charged for meeting space based upon how many nights EEA members stay at the hotel. The more people stay at the hotel, the lower the rate the hotel charges the EEA, and thus we can continue to charge among the lowest registration rates for any major conference.
The conference hotel is the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers located at 811 7th Avenue 53rd Street in New York. For reservations, please call the hotel directly at (212) 581-1000.
