Students enrolled in the Business Administration major will learn and experience a variety of subjects and skills spanning all aspects of the business and organizational community and practice. Accounting, economics, business ethics, business law, finance, information systems, international business, management, marketing, and organizational behavior are some of the subjects that are explored as students prepare for their business careers in today’s dynamic global and entrepreneurial economy. Contemporary competencies from information literacy to interpersonal skill are also developed through the core curriculum’s learning goals of communication, ethics, foundation, perspectives, and reasoning. The career readiness of each student is specifically advanced through an individualized Career Pathways Program.
Students who have completed their Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Ramapo College have been employed in multinational, national, and local organizations of all sizes, across industries, and in both for-profit and non-profit sectors. Their employers include national and local firms; corporations and entrepreneurial ventures; consultants; technology, retail, entertainment, sports, banking and other service industries; manufacturing; education; health care; nonprofits; and government. Additionally, many Ramapo business students are accepted into graduate and doctoral programs. A Business Administration student must choose one of the following concentrations within the Business Administration major: Finance, Management, or Marketing, but may choose up to two concentrations within the major.

The Finance Program (Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration) provides students with a comprehensive overview of corporate financial principles and rigorous exposure to quantitative financial methods and techniques. In addition, students have the opportunity to learn how financial markets and institutions interact to allocate capital and manage business and personal financial risks. Finance courses also teach students how financial managers participate in the global economy and use forecasting tools and techniques to plan their businesses more efficiently. Students can participate in the co-op program which gives them the opportunity to work under the supervision of a financial professional and a faculty advisor.
The Finance Program prepares students for careers in financial analysis, stock brokerage, money management, real estate analysis, banking, insurance and risk management, international finance, and provides them with a solid foundation to pursue a graduate degree in business, finance, and economics .
In order to enhance the learning experience of students, the Anisfield School of Business opened the Global Financial Markets Trading Laboratory in 2010. With real-time access to the world’s financial data and state-of-the-art trading systems, the lab allows faculty members to give students valuable insights into how the financial and economic theories taught in the classroom apply in real financial markets. All business students participate in a stock market trading exercise in the core finance course. Certain sections of classes such as Securities and Investments and Corporate Valuation are taught entirely in the trading lab, while other business courses meet occasionally in the Lab to utilize the technology in connection with specific topics or projects.
Note: A 2.0 GPA in the major is required for graduation.
