Jayoung Yoon is a New York-based artist born in Korea. She is known for interdisciplinary artworks using human hair as a medium. Her solo shows include exhibits at Theo Ganz Studio, NY, 2016, Delaware Center for Contemporary Art, DE, 2011, and the Museum of New Art, MI, 2009.
Jayoung Yoon will give an artist talk 1:00-2:00 in the Adler Theater.

Demosthenes Agrafiotis, b 1946, a leading voice of International Avant-garde art, is active in the fields of painting, poetry, photography, video, and inter-media. He has a special interest in the relationship between art and techno-science. He lives in Athens, Greece.
Demosthenes Agrafiotis will give an Artist Talk from 1:00-2:00pm in ASB 135.

Keith D’Arcy of SONGS publishing will give a presentation on the roles of publishing in the contemporary music industry. SONGS is the leading independent music publisher of contemporary music in the world, representing leading songwriters including Lorde, Diplo, Nelly, and The Weekend. D’Arcy works in the field of Creative Licensing and Catalog Acquisition at SONGS, and has 18 years of professional experience as a music producer and supervisor at EMI Music Publishing, Universal Music Publishing, Sony BMC Music entertainment, and ad agency Bates Worldwide. Keith has placed hundreds of songs in campaigns for global brands like Nike, Mercedes, BMW, Intel, Fidelity, American Express, Pepsi, Fisher Price, Northwest Airlines, Heineken, and Viagra. He also has worked as a producer for independent music house Sacred Noise.

During Latino Heritage Month of 2016, Cuban jazz pianist Harold Lopez-Nussa will share his music with students and the regional community in a two-day residency. He will rehearse and perform with Ramapo students in the jazz ensemble, joined by Ramapo alumna singer Michelle Encarnacion, for a concert Friday night. In addition to showcasing his collaboration with students, the concert in the Sharp Theater will feature his trio, who are sure to entertain the campus and public. During the residency, Lopez-Nussa will also coach students in the course “Music Improvisation” and discuss his career strategies in “The Capstone Seminar in Music.” The “Live Audio Engineering” course will have the opportunity to assemble and manage the audio system for the concert. All Ramapo students will be invited to attend events.
Students of ARHT 204 will visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art: African Art collection. Professor Peffer will be lecturing in the gallery to enhance learning objectives including how non-western objects are displayed in museums today.

Students will learn how to dye a variety of natural fibers with guest Karen Skoglund for two class projects and will also learn dye techniques for distressing and aging fabrics and garments that they will employ in their classwork for fall program productions Iphigenia and Of Mice and Men.

The course Advanced Music Performance will host drummer Bobby Deitch on Monday, November 7th from 3-5pm for a session about groove, rhythm, and career as a gigging musician. Mr. Deitch will bring to class his rich experience as a versatile performer of rock, jazz, and world music in New York and around the US with numerous performers and ensembles. The session will take place during regular course meeting time and other music students, including those of Musicianship I and Musicianship II, will be invited to join.
Professor del Amo’s Black and White Photography class will visit the exhibition “Danny Lyon: Message to the Future” at the Whitney Museum in NYC. “Danny Lyon: Message to the Future” is the first comprehensive retrospective of the career of Danny Lyon (b. 1942) to be presented in twenty-five years. The exhibition includes approximately 175 photographs and related films. This show is relevant to the ARTS 206 Black and White Photography class for several reasons: He was a leading figure in the street photography movement in the 1960s , and Street Photography is one of the projects that students are assigned. Also, ARTS 206 fulfills the Gen Ed requirement “Topics Arts and Humanities’ and this show emphasizes Lyon’s concern with social and political issues.
