Professor del Amo’s Portrait Photography class will be visiting the “Diane Arbus: In the Beginning” exhibition at the Met Breuer Museum in NYC. Diane Arbus is one of the most important portrait photographers of the 20th century. The exhibition “In the Beginning” features early and less known works that she created during the first seven years of her career (1956-62). Students will have the unique opportunity to see original works that will inform what they will learn about this artist in the Portrait Photography class.

2016 Schomburg Fellow Sam Kirk and her student collaborators will be informally meeting and greeting the public on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 from 6-7, at the site of the Celebrating Diversity installation in the quad between H,D, and C wings. There will be free snacks and a chance to comment on the art project.  Please stop by to say hello and let us know how you feel about the art!

Drawing and Painting student Gina Scalza will be exhibiting her art as part of the exhibit WORD at the respected Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art.  Gina’s work will be part of an exhibition that includes well established artists like Ann Hamilton, Robert Indiana, and Jeffrey Gibson, along with many emerging artists.

The Intercollegiate Iron Pour at Salem Art is a weekend long symposium that brings together students from across the northeast to celebrate and learn about the expansive field of cast iron. With multiple large-scale iron pours, artist talks, and group activities, the weekend provides and immersive and highly intensive learning experience.
