“Cry Havoc!”

April 11, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

“Cry Havoc!” is a one-man show created and performed by actor/veteran Stephan Wolfert. Wolfert will spend the day at Ramapo. Prior to the evening performance and talk back with the audience, at 7 pm, Wolfert will hold an acting workshop with theater students and meet with Ramapo’s veterans. ,

After six years in the army, while battling PTSD, Wolfert came in contact with Shakespeare’s plays while traveling on a train. Reading the plays propelled Wolfert on on an odyssey over the next 20 years that included receiving his MFA in acting at Trinity Repertory Theater, creating the military segments for Twyla Tharp’s Movin’ Out, acting in several theater and film projects, writing and performing his one-man show, and becoming the Outreach Coordinator for Bedlam theater company.

Through this residency, students will experience Shakespeare in a unique, innovative, and interactive way that connects h is work directly tot he profound social, cultural, and political challenges of human existence, both historically and today.

Wolfert’s one-day residency is part of the senior project campaign, “The Next Step: Creating Community for our Veterans, organized by seniors Kylan O’Shea and Ariana Garbaccio to raise awareness about student veterans and their reintegration into civilian life. They have partnered with a local nonprofit organization, Heroes to Heroes, whose mission is to help veterans suffering from PTSD through peer support and retreats.
