Message from the Dean Aaron Lorenz
School of Social Science and Human Services
As 2018 begins, we intend to continue pushing our students to new heights and stressing the mission of the College. I know that mission has served you well and we will be certain to further that legacy. But we can’t do it without your help. You as a member of the G.O. L D. “Graduates Of the Last Decade” at Ramapo represent our College’s future. We need your input as to how to make improvements in preparing our graduates for today’s workforce. And we are here to help you further your career as well.
As Dean of the School of Social Science and Human Services, I am honored to serve the faculty and staff in continuing to showcase Ramapo’s unique brand. The School of Social Science and Human Services plays a fundamental role in carrying out the mission of a student-centered, research and teaching-focused, and service-oriented public institution. Our incredible faculty members guide our students, as they did with you, in the journey of intellectual discovery. Ramapo College students believe they have the duty to make a difference in society and we stress that mantra every chance we get.
The fall semester brought us new accolades and we’re proud to continue to promote Ramapo College and SSHS. My goal as dean is to work with colleagues, students, friends and alumni to promote the social sciences across the College and the Northeast.

Exciting changes are underway at Ramapo College’s Career Center!
In January, the Cahill Career Center transitioned to a new career management platform called Handshake. Handshake is used by over 475 career centers nationwide including Stanford, Princeton, Brown and Berkeley.
Handshake gives Ramapo students and alumni access to a powerful network of national employers in addition to our established employer partners. In the 3 months since we introduced Handshake, the number of job postings – full-time, part-time and internships – increased by 134% from the same time period last year.
