The Berrie Center Performing Artist Series is Now Arch Performances

A Message from Our Director, Lisa A. Campbell

For twenty-four seasons Ramapo College of NJ has been bringing outstanding guest artists to perform at the Berrie Center for the Arts on our campus.  As we look to the future in anticipation of our silver anniversary, we are thrilled to announce our new brand Arch Performances!  Arch Performances replaces what has been affectionately known as the Berrie Center Performances.

Why the change? Over our twenty-four-year history, so much has changed on our campus.  The Berrie Center for the Arts is now home to a wide variety of programs and users and we are looking to distinguish our performing artist series.  Our series has always had the vision of being a community resource welcoming 85% of our audiences from the greater Mahwah region.

Why Arch Performances?  The Ramapo College Arch is perhaps its most distinguishing feature and we like the idea of relating a key icon as an identifier with our series.  In addition, the true meaning of arch is to serve as a support – something we strive to do everyday for both our campus community and our neighboring citizens.

What does this mean to you, our patrons? Watch for our new logo and recognize that when you see it on our marketing materials, you are getting quality performing arts opportunities by our guest artists at an affordable price.

Arch Performances. Same great events. Same great location.

February 2025
Kalanidhi Dance performance at the Berrie Center at Ramapo College
Feb. 02
02:00 pm - 03:30 pm

Kalanidhi Dance, an ensemble rooted in the classical Indian style of Kuchipudi, will present their exquisite piece, Bhoomi. Connection and balance play a central role in Bhoomi, which means “earth” in Sanskrit. Framed by the portrayal of the five natural elements – space, air, fire, water, and earth – the work depicts the evolution of humanity’s connection to these fundamental aspects of the earth’s existence. It asks why and how have we gotten to this point and what might we do to slow this course we have laid for ourselves?

The work unfolds in front of projected images of paintings by award-winning artist Shanthi Chandrasekhar and lush designs from Dylan Uremovich. India-based music composer Praveen Rao provides a sweeping and innovative original score.

Adults: $35/30, Children Under 17, $20, RCNJ Faculty/Staff: $28*, RCNJ Students: $8*, Retired Employees of Ramapo College: $28*
